Kids easy target, look out for swine flu warning signs
LUCKNOW: Of the 23 new cases of swine flu reported on Tuesday , seven were of children. including an infant. Total 151 cases of swine flu have been reported in the city since January , of which 95% were in the months of July and August. Three deaths due to swine flu have also taken place.
Health experts pointed out that identifying swine flu in smaller children is difficult because they are not able to explain some symptoms.
“Only awareness can help parents act on time. In case of babies, for instance, a child who doesn't wake up easily or stops interacting are war ning signs. Likewise, a child who cries without a valid reason, like hunger or thirst, and is so irritable that (s)he doesn't want to be held me ans trouble,“ said Dr Sanjay Niranjan, city-based paedi atrician. Besides children, a patient from SGPGI campus also tested positive.
