A Mahlihabad resident, Rawat met with an accident while on his way to Lucknow from Sitapur. He suffered serious head injuries and multiple limb fractures.
Significantly, another MBBS student Deepak Agarwal, died due to fatal injuries suffered after he fell into an elevator well on January 11, 2006. He had to be taken to a private nursing home as trauma centre did not have ventilators needed.
Though the state level committee looking into the matter suggested making alternate arrangements for ventilation of patients, no concrete steps have been taken so far.
