KGMU discharges patient after first-ever robotic surgery

Lucknow: The first patient to undergo robotic gall bladder removal surgery at King George's Medical University (KGMU) was discharged on Saturday. The procedure, performed using a minimally invasive robotic technique, was led by head of the department of general surgery, professor Abhinav Arun Sonkar. "This achievement represents a step forward in our ability to provide state-of-the-art surgical care," said Prof Sonkar. Robotic surgery, known for its precision and reduced patient trauma, is expected to significantly benefit those undergoing complex procedures at KGMU. Patients can look forward to smaller incisions, less pain, minimal scarring, and faster recovery times, he added.
