The decision was taken at a meeting between Lucknow divisional commissioner Mukesh Meshram and KGMU vice-chancellor Lt Gen Dr Bipin Puri.

The meeting was called in the wake of chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s directions to three premier institutes in the city to increase the strength of ICU beds by 1,000 in view of the rising number of Covid-19 cases. KGMU’s Covid-19 hospital is yet to start taking admission.

Meshram said that KGMU has agreed that of the total 500 beds, 200 will be ICU and high-dependency, while 300 will have oxygen support facility so that Covid-19 patients with breathing difficulties can get required treatment.
