Kakori incident anniversary: Kin of freedom fighters feted

LUCKNOW: The five-day ‘Kakori Shaheed Diwas’ organised by district administration concluded on Monday with felicitation of the families of freedom fighters and army personnel.
The programme was held at Shaheed Memorial in Kakori to commemorate the 95th anniversary of Kakori Train Action. Freedom fighters whose families were felicitated were Ram Krishna Khatri’s son Uday Khatri, Muhammad Shabeer’s son Sabir and Dauji Gupta’s son Ratnesh’s Gupta.Families of two army personnel — rifleman Sunil Jang’s mother Beena Jung and Lance naik Kewalanand Dwivedi’s wife Kamla Dwivedi — who laid down their lives during Kargil war were also honoured.
Chief guest, deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak said, “Kakori Train Action is one of the major events in India’s freedom struggle. I express my gratitude to the families of the freedom fighters and martyrs who came to the programme.”
