KANPUR: The gangster court, Kanpur Nagar, extended the judicial custody of independent Kunda MLA Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyya, his father Uday Pratap Singh and 12 others till June 19 in three cases here on Monday.

KANPUR: The gangster court, Kanpur Nagar, extended the judicial custody of independent Kunda MLA Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyya, his father Uday Pratap Singh and 12 others till June 19 in three cases here on Monday. The court concluded legal formalities within half hour as Monday's hearing was fixed for the appearance of accused. Fourteen out of the 19 accused appeared before the court while remaining five — Jagdamba Singh, Tirath Lal, Ram Krishna Gupta, Shiv Prakash Jaiswal and Brahmanand Pandey — who were on bail failed to appear.

The court issued summoning orders to the accused and fixed June 19 for arguments on charges. Charge-sheet in the three cases was filed at Allahabad. There are three gangster cases against Raghuraj Pratap Singh, Uday Pratap Singh and others and 31 have been accused in these three gangster cases. In session trial 90, of 1999, only Raja Bhaiyya and Uday Pratap Singh are accused while in the session trial number 145 and 146, of 2003, (new numbers) there are 13 and 16 accused respectively. Directive: Additional chief metropolitan magistrate, first, who had issued bailable warrant against actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha in a case of plagiarism, on Monday, asked the accused to produce copy of stay granted by the High Court. A counsel named Harish Kumar Sinha, claiming himself as advocate of Shatrughan Sinha, moved an application before the court stating that the Allahabad HC had stayed the operation of bailable warrant against his client till further order on Friday.
