JD(U) supports Sandeep Pandey on government school education
LUCKNOW: Janta Dal (United) on Saturday extended support to Magsaysay awardee Sandeep Pandey fasting for the past six days demanding implementation of a high court order directing government officials, judiciary and elected representatives to send their children to government schools
Pandey has been staging a peaceful protest at the Gandhi Statue park in Hazratganj demanding that a common education system be implemented in the state. On Saturday, Anil Hegde, former vice president of JDU in Bihar and currently the national returning officer for organisational elections, met Pandey and supported the movement.
On June 8, Pandey, along with a delegation, had met chief minister Akhilesh Yadav as well, but talks between the two remained inconclusive. Pandey has been asking that the high court’s order of August 18, 2015, be implemented stating that it will indirectly improve the quality of education in government schools.
