IRS officer’s wife accuses hubby’s colleague of threats
Lucknow: Two days after Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer Gaurav Garg filed an FIR accusing his senior, Yogendra Kumar Mishra, of physical assault over a cricket-related dispute, the latter's wife, Neha Mishra, submitted a counter-complaint to the police commissioner. She alleged that Garg had intimidated her husband and threatened to falsely implicate him and stage a police encounter.
In her written complaint, Neha, an officer in the transport department, claimed that her husband — a joint commissioner-level officer currently posted in Kashipur, Uttarakhand — was physically assaulted and threatened by Garg on April 20 at the Income Tax office in Lucknow.
Neha further alleged that Garg, identifying himself as the husband of IPS officer Raveena Tyagi (she is not posted in Lucknow and on maternity leave), threatened her husband by saying: "My wife is a senior police officer. I will trap you in false cases and get you killed in a fake encounter." She said that her husband had already reported the incident via email to the authorities and urged the commissioner of police to ensure that Hazratganj police station registers a case and conducts a fair inquiry. A copy of her complaint was also forwarded to the Hazratganj SHO.
This latest development comes amid a dramatic turn of events in the departmental feud, which escalated when Garg filed an FIR on May 31, accusing Mishra of barging into a closed-door meeting at the Income Tax office on May 29 and launching a "premeditated and violent attack," including attempted strangulation, over an unresolved dispute dating back to Feb.
Meanwhile, police commissioner Amrendra Sengar told TOI that Neha's application has been forwarded to the DCP(Central), and an inquiry is being conducted into the allegations she raised against the IRS officer.
