'Invited to b'day party, stripped, beaten and urinated upon': UP teen dies by suicide

LUCKNOW: A Class 10 student was brutally assaulted, humiliated and urinated upon by his peers at a birthday celebration in Kaptanganj police station in Basti.


The victim was lured to the party by his classmates where he endured severe physical abuse and degrading treatment. Following the humiliation he committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope at his residence on December 23 night.

The incident occurred when one Vinay Kumar invited the 17-year-old victim to a female friend's birthday party on Dec 20.

The perpetrators, identified as Sonal, Kaju Prasad from Kaili, and Akash (all aged 17) and classmates of the victim, subjected him to brutal assault in an isolated area behind a house.

Upon reaching home, the distressed student narrated the ordeal to his family, who immediately approached the Kaptainganj Police Station.

But allegations are that the Station Officer Deepak Kumar Dubey failed to take appropriate action against the accused.

Devastated by the police inaction, the student tragically took his own life. The victim's family then approached the Superintendent of Police on Dec 24 which prompted immediate action. Subsequently, the Station Officer was suspended for negligence, and a case was registered against the perpetrators.

The victim's mother revealed that her son was deliberately targeted because of his friendship with the girl whose birthday was being celebrated, the police said.

The accused had meticulously planned the assault, demonstrating premeditated intent, the victim's mother told reporters in Basti.

Superintendent of Police, Basti, Gopal Chaudhary, said that an FIR has been registered against the named classmates of the victim child and all were held and sent to shelter home.
