LUCKNOW: Though UP Madrasa Education Board has asked state-aided madrassas to provide video footage of their Independence Day celebrations to district minority welfare officers, the state basic education department has exempted government primary schools from submitting similar evidence.
Basic education board secretary Sanjay Sinha said, "We trust our schools. They're our teachers, our students, so why should we seek any evidence?'' A letter issued by Sinha to to district basic shiksha adhikaris said 70 years of freedom will be celebrated in schools at 8am on August 15 by unfurling the national flag and singing the national anthem.
