In case of accident, cops to rush in with ambulance

This is how it would work: As soon as information of a car crash is conveyed on police wireless, an ambulance and police jeep would rush to the accident spot simultaneously.

chalked out a strategy on Monday to ensure safety of commuters.

A base station would be set up in districts along the six-lane corridor where 108 ambulance would be deputed. The expressway connects Lucknow to Agra via Hardoi, Unnao, Kanpur, Kannauj, Auraiya, Etawah, Mainpuri and

Firozabad

districts.

To curb speeding and drunken driving, the two primary causes of fatal road accidents, 22 police jeeps under UP-100 would be deputed. Each of them would be equipped with speed guns and breathalyzers. DGP

said, “Eleven SUVs will be deputed for patrolling on either side. In case of an accident, they would alert the nearest base station to send an ambulance. We would also take strict action against speed violators as negligence leads to fatal pile-ups on expressways in winter season.“

District magistrates and police chiefs have been instructed to pick trouble spots and place signages and barricades. Construction work is on at some stretches of the highway. UPEIDA (Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority) has been asked to place warning boards at such points.
