Human sacrifice: Life terms upheld

LUCKNOW: A division bench of the high court, comprising Justice Vishnu Sahai and Justice Kamal Kishore, here on Friday, upheld life sentences awarded to Jaishree Yadav and Dhani Ram for committing sacrifice of six-year-old Manorma, and directed the chief judicial magistrate, Sultanpur to issue non-bailable warrants against them (convicts) (who are currently on bail) and to take them into custody to serve out their rest of the sentences.
According to the prosecution, accused Dukhana was issueless and wanted to beget a child. With the help of her parents Dhani Ram and Sukhraji, shecontacted accused Jaishree Yadav, a tantrik.
On the advice of Jaishree Yadav, they killed Manorama in a tantrik ritual to help Dukhana beget a child. There was no eyewitness and the case was entirely based on circumstantial evidence.
