Housewife sets herself on fire

LUCKNOW: A 30-year-old woman allegedly poured kerosene over herself at around 10.00am on Monday and set herself on fire.
The victim was identified as Poonam Dixit, wife of Sanjay Dixit, a resident of Mayapuram in Talkatora. Poonam's brother, Umesh Misra lodged an FIR against Poonam's husband and his aunt, Kusuma, for forcing his sister to end her life owing to dowry demand.The matter was being investigated.
Meanwhile, a 35-year-old man hanged himself at his house in Chowk on Monday. Ajay Kashyap, the victim, was an employee at a private electronic appliance company. No suicide note was found.
The police quoting family members said that Ajay was in a state of depression for the past few days. On Monday evening at around 4.00, he closed the door of his room and hanged himself. The police have not found any suicide note from the incident site. The police were investigating the matter. tnn
