A notice was issued to a house owner to remove an encroachment near the stepwell.

Executive officer of Chandausi, Krishna Kumar Sonkar, said, "A house is encroaching on the area to be excavated, and a notice has been issued to the owners to remove the encroachment themselves. The house owner had requested relief from the DM, citing that they are poor."

"The DM explained to them that they only need to remove the part of their house that is encroaching, not the entire house. We have been directed by the DM to put a tin sheet over the stepwell to protect it from rain. Other encroachments will be identified and marked. The encroachers will be notified to remove the encroachments themselves, failing which we will proceed with demolition," added Sonkar.
