High Court orders probe against V-C

LUCKNOW: A division bench of Lucknow high court on Wednesday ordered higher education secretary Rajneesh Gupta to institute an inquiry against Lucknow University vice-chancellor Prof MK Mishra, and probe irregularities in the Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) for promotions of university teachers.
The bench of Justice Rajeev Sharma and Justice DK Arora passed the order while hearing the case of Vinod Singh and Manoj Agarwal, reader, department of economics, Lucknow University.The two teachers have argued that their promotion to the post of professor was turned down by the V-C on grounds of ineligibility. The court directed Gupta to submit the report within two months and suggest action to be taken against Prof Mishra. The next hearing in the case was scheduled for August 7.
