gorakhpur: amid growing tension in the western sector, the indo-nepal border here has been kept on high alert while strict watch is being kept on the movement of people as a security measure. this was stated by ig police, gorakhpur zone, ram lal ram while talking to mediapersons here on thursday. he said that as border with nepal over an area of 400 km was open for all, entry of anti-social elements, including terrorists from there, could not be ruled out.
the deputy commissioner customs and the additional director general indo-nepal border had been asked to cooperate with each other to check activities of anti-social elements, he said. ram said that hp sharma, technical supervisor of pnt, who was arrested at nawatanwa (mahrajganj) recently, had provided vital clues about the activities of maoist communist centre (mcc) members. besides, the police had been directed to keep watch on newcomers in the border villages, he said.
