Lucknow: The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court on Thursday upheld the conviction of former
Congress MP Annu Tandon and her associates for stopping a train at Unnao railway station for about 15 minutes during a political protest along with 150-200 party workers in 2017.
The bench, however, scrapped the sentence of two years imprisonment awarded to them by the trial court in 2018 and punished them only with fine of Rs 25,000 each, holding that the punishment of sentence was excessive.
A bench of Justice D K Singh passed the order while partly allowing an appeal filed by Annu Tandon and her associates against the verdict of special MP-MLA Court, Unnao.
MP-MLA court on March 18, 2021 had held them guilty for stopping the train.
