LUCKNOW: The high court on Wednesday issued notices to attorney general and UP advocate general on a PIL seeking quashing of a provision which provides the category of state and deputy ministers in the cabinet. A division bench of Justices Amitava Lala and Ritu Raj Awasthi also asked the government to file response, if any, within two weeks.
The PIL filed by a local lawyer stated that the Constitution does not provide the said categories of ministers -- state and deputy -- and that the provision making such categoritsation is against the Constitutional provisions.
