ucknow: Sarojininagar is emerging as a model for community-led development, with a mix of public participation and government support transforming residential colonies into hubs of fitness, learning and sustainability, MLA Rajeshwar Singh said on Tuesday.
Since Dec 2022, as many as 106 open-air gyms have been set up across the constituency, while 62 RWAs now have community libraries stocked with over 1,600 books. Sports kits have also been distributed in 50 RWAs to promote youth engagement and outdoor activities.
Officials said the focus is on creating vibrant neighbourhood spaces where residents can access basic recreational and educational facilities within their colonies.
On the sustainability front, solar power projects worth Rs 1.64 crore have been installed in eight RWAs. Over 60 MW capacity has been developed under the Solar City initiative, while Mati village is being developed as Lucknow’s first solar village.
Infrastructure additions include parks, jogging tracks, 1,800 solar lights and EV charging stations.
The constituency has also pushed digital education, with smart classrooms, labs and devices benefiting thousands of students.
