Guv felicitates Hindi, Urdu poets

LUCKNOW: Governor Ram Naik on Sunday felicitated famous Hindi satirist Ashok Chakradhar and Urdu poet and lyricist Hasan Kamal on the 85th anniversary of Hindi lyricist Ram Swaroop ‘Sindoor’. Governor presented memento, certificate of appreciation and cash award to the duo.
The governor also honoured the poets who participated in a kavi sammelan and mushaira organised on the occasion.Those honoured included Shiv Om Ambar, Waseem Barelvi, Dhanajay, Majid Deobandi, Tariq Qamar, Devendra Safal, Farooq Jaisi, Shahnaz Hindustani and Brijnedra Nath Srivastava.
Praising the contribution of Ram Swaroop to Hindi literature, Naik said Swaroop had a close association with Raj Bhawan as he used to regularly visit it during the tenure of former UP governor Vishnukant Shastri.
