Lucknow: Gusty winds accompanied with mild thunderstorm disrupted electricity supply in several parts of Lucknow on Thursday evening.
In the Gomti Nagar zone, multiple precautionary emergency shutdowns and breakdowns were reported due to adverse weather conditions. At 9.38pm, all feeders of the Gwari Culvert substation under Vibhuti Khand were shut down as a precautionary measure amid strong winds and rain. Shortly after, at 9.42 pm, feeders including Baghamau, Gokul Vihar and Vistar under Ssector 1 substation in Gomti Nagar Extension were taken under a 10 minute emergency shutdown.
In the Jankipuram zone, outages were reported from multiple substations affecting residential areas. At 11.05 pm, a breakdown in the 11 kV Paper Mill feeder of Bhikampur substation disrupted supply to Balmiki Nagar and Baba ka Purwa for an hour. The CSDS feeder of Ahibaranpur substation developed a fault at 10.47 pm, while the Rasoolpur feeder of Integral University substation and the Basera feeder of University substation also suffered breakdowns, impacting areas such as Nishatganj and New Hyderabad for nearly an hour.
Additional disruptions were reported across Jankipuram.
The Priyadarshini feeder also developed a fault with repair work in progress. Moreover, all 11 kV feeders under Subhash Park, Mahanagar and ITI Aliganj substations were shut down due to strong winds.
The Amausi zone also faced widespread disruption. While supply remained normal at MLD Tehsil substation except for the Maan Khera and Chandpur feeders, several substations including Mall, Rahimabad, Kakori, Gopramau, MLD Old and Rahman Khera had all their 11 kV feeders shut down due to strong winds and rain. Power supply was also affected in Nadarganj and other parts of Amausi.
Apart from these, a major fault in the 33 kV line caused outages in Alambagh and Railway Power areas. With one line already under repair, the second line also developed a fault, leading to prolonged darkness in areas such as Alambagh, Azad Nagar and Ambedkar Park Road.
