Gun-running racket busted, 4 held

The Anti-Terrorist Squad of UP Police along with sleuths of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) busted a gun-running racket here on Wednesday. Four persons, including three of a family, were arrested. Cops recovered 11 pistols, 21 magazines cartridges of .32 bore and a vehicle from them.

LUCKNOW: The Anti-Terrorist Squad of UP Police along with sleuths of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) busted a gun-running racket here on Wednesday. Four persons, including three of a family, were arrested. Cops recovered 11 pistols, 21 magazines cartridges of .32 bore and a vehicle from them.
The accused were identified as gang leader Arvind Kumar Pandey, his wife Kiran Devi and their son Shyam Mohan Giri.

“While Arvind is a native of Deoria, Kiran Devi was living with him as his wife along with her son Shyam Mohan. Kiran and her son are natives of Gorakhpur,” a senior ATS officer told TOI. Their aide Vishal Pandey of Deoria was also arrested,” said an ATS official .
IG public grievances Ashok Mutha Jain said the arrests were made near KKV Degree College. “Arvind used to smuggle firearms from Munger in Bihar for Rs 25,000 per weapon and sell it to criminals for between Rs 50,000 and Rs 75,000.
