Grille put on UP tracks, slow speed of train averts disaster

LUCKNOW: A major accident was averted near Lucknow Sunday after Anand Vihar Terminal-Gorakhpur Humsafar Express (12572) hit a grille placed on the tracks, eighth such suspected sabotage bid in UP and third in Lucknow since April. Officials said the train’s slow speed staved off a disaster.

An FIR was filed against unidentified people under Railways Act Sections 151 (damage to railway properties) and 153 (endangering the safety of passengers) over the attempted sabotage on Dilkusha-Malhaur section. After the train hit the grille, its drivers got off and removed obstruction from the tracks.
