Ramayan path, Deepdaan to mark Valmiki Jayanti
Lucknow: The state govt has announced massive celebrations on the occasion of Valmiki Jayanti on Oct 17. As per the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's directives, there will be recitation of Ramcharitmanas at temples. This will be accompanied by cultural programmes, bhajans and kirtans. A major event will take place in Chitrakoot, the site of Maharishi Valmiki's penance. Govt will provide a spiritual platform to local artistes to showcase their talent.The festival will be celebrated in all districts where, in addition to the lighting of lamps and Deepdaan, the Ramayan ‘path' will take place at sites associated with Maharishi Valmiki and at temples. "These programmes will be organised at the district, tehsil and development block levels. The CM has directed that proper arrangements be made for cleanliness, drinking water, sound systems, lighting and security at every event venue. Govt will also host a grand event at Lalapur, Chitrakoot, the sacred site of Maharishi Valmiki's penance.Regional tourism officer Anupam Srivastava has been appointed as the nodal officer for the programme, which will begin at 11 am with the garlanding ceremony at the statue of Maharishi Valmiki in Lalapur," said a govt spokesperson.
