The governor said that rural youth should be inspired to take up traditional and ancestral careers and agro-based industries should be promoted so that drift from rural to urban areas could be stopped.
For urban youths too, vocational courses should be run by education institutions for self employment. Taking a dig at the corruption prevailing in the government machinery, he said that most of the time people, having political affiliations, dupe banks. Those who have taken small loans pay their money back, he said. LU vice-chancellor Prof SB Singh and dean faculty of commerce, Prof RK Tripathi, also spoke on the occasion.
The seminar, organised by the department of commerce, Lucknow University, in association with National Commission of Youth, saw participation of over 300 participants from all over the country.
At the end of the seminar a recommendation draft has also been prepared in which it has been suggested that besides generation of more self employment opportunities and weeding out corruption from the system, arrangements should be made by the government to converge and make available all the welfare schemes to youths in simple language and with less formalities from a single window system.
