LUCKNOW: The state government on Tuesday informed the UP assembly that all
shiksha mitras who are undergoing training programme would be appointed as primary teachers.
Further elaborating, basic education minister Ram Govind Chaudhary said that not only those, but intermediate pass shiksha mitras have also been allowed to pursue their graduation along with training so that after completion of both they can also be appointed as primary teachers.
Chaudhary was replying to a question of Pradeep Chaudhary in the Question Hour. On the issue of stipend to shiksha mitras, the minister informed the House that since the same can only be done by the Centre, recommendations has been sent by the basic education department as well from his side that shiksha mitras' stipend be increased from the present Rs 3,500 to Rs 5,000. He said the proposal for the same was also being sent to for annual plan 2013-2014.
