Delhi-like Bio-Diversity Park to come up in Gomtinagar
Lucknow: City will soon get a ‘Gomti Bio-Diversity Park' on the lines of Yamuna Biodiversity Park in Delhi.Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) will develop the park on 75 acres of land reclaimed from the Sahara India Group in Gomtinagar."To initiate the project, a total station survey of the entire land will commence on Friday," said LDA vice chairman Prathamesh Kumar.According to the detailed project report, the park will feature natural wetlands, a butterfly park, a serene lake, and various amenities designed to attract both native and migratory birds. Key highlights will include a lotus park, the preservation of endangered plants from the Gomti river basin, and a Natural Interpretation Centre to educate visitors about biodiversity. This will likely be the second biodiversity park, as another park is proposed to be established at Lucknow University. The park will showcase various plant species indigenous to the Gomti river basin, which will be collected and preserved in the wetlands to help reduce carbon dioxide levels. To create a welcoming habitat for birds, trees, grasses, and bushes will be planted around the wetlands. Moreover, the park will include a fruit garden, a medicinal garden, and a butterfly garden, ensuring a consistent food supply for birds while attracting insects and other small creatures. Artificial mountains will be constructed using soil excavated from the park's lake, with grass and herbs planted on them to enhance the park's natural aesthetics.Within the park, a Natural Interpretation Centre (NIC) will be developed, preserving the area as a reserve forest. Field biologists will be appointed to educate visitors about biodiversity, providing insights into the plants, birds, animals, and insects present in the park."The land faced issues due to illegal encroachments and garbage dumping, which we are currently addressing," said Kumar.

The area earmarked for this Biodiversity Park could be the sprawling green belt stretching along the Lohia Path If so the designers should consider a symbiotic link with Ligia Park. Also it would wonderful if viewing freshwater aquarium could be incorporated Into this project. Finally, a nodal officer should be appointed to oversee this wonderful eco project because to give it the special ficus it deserves.Read allPost comment
