Lucknow: With just one boy among top six scorers from the city who made it to the list of top 10 rank holders of Allahabad region in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Intermediate results, girls continue to outshine boys and have taken over the merit list this year too.
"I couldn't believe to see my score and re-entered the roll number three times...it was absolutely unbelievable," exclaimed Anshul, who scored 98.6%, Astudent of Manipal Public School, Anshul Bhadauria emerged the region topper in CBSE class XII exam.
Though her teachers and parents had full faith in her, Anshul was amazed when she saw the result. Completing her Intermediate with humanities, the 18-year old wants to be a civil servant. She believes more than hard work it's smart studies that help in gaining good marks.
"I made it a point that I learn whatever is taught in the class the same day. This not only helped me understand better but also reduced pressure during exam," shared Anshul. A systematic timetable, regular studies, and constant revision also helped Shaurya Shreshtha to achieve the second position in the entire region. With 98.4% in Intermediate, Shaurya wants to be a cardiologist, take his parents for a world tour and show them all Seven Wonders of the World.
However, Shourya was disheartened to miss the first position by just one mark. "When I saw the list of city toppers, I felt very bad as my total was 492, which is just one mark less than the highest score," he said.
Unlike other students, the road to success was not easy for Shivangi Tandon. Her family is in Sitapur, while Shivangi stays as a paying guest in the city. "During exams, before each paper I used to prepare my breakfast and while all my classmates used to come with their parents I took public transport," she said while speaking to TOI.
Shivangi scored 97.6% in the board examinations and now wants to become an engineer. She has already cracked IIT mains but before everything she is planning eagerly to go back home and celebrate with her mother and brother.
Scoring a 97.6%, Taiyabba Wahab, the third rank holder and a student of Rani Laxmi Bai also wants to become an engineer and later crack civil services.
Speaking to TOI, she said whenever overcome by stress during exams, cooking was her stress buster. "As a break from studies she used to spend time in the kitchen and cook new dishes for us," said her mother Zareena.
The fifth rank in the city is shared by Nicy, a student of Rani Lanxmi Bai and Muskan Arora from DPS.
After an excellent result in Intermediate, the girls now want to become engineers and have also cleared the first phase of the IIT entrance.
