LUCKNOW: Girls outshone boys at the first annual function and award ceremony of King George's University of Dental Sciences (KGUDS) in which meritorious students were felicitated at the Convention Centre on Monday.
Of the total 48 award winners, there were only 11 boys. However, none of them bagged gold or silver medal. Lokesh Kumar being the only exception.

Not only this, not a single male candidate could make it to the top 15 positions.
Topper Payal Saxena secured six gold medals, one book prize and five certificates of honour. The awards also included the newly-constituted Govila Gold Medal which will be awarded to the student securing highest marks in all the five professional examinations.
Daughter of Farrukhabad-based Dr Dinesh Chandra Saxena, Payal was also the topper BDS candidates in combined pre-medical entrance examination, 2000. She has recently secured the second position in the UP post-graduate medical entrance examination.
Sharing her mantra of success, she said, "I believe that there is no short-cut to success and dedication is the only way to achieve goals." Known for her little poems among friends and relatives, Payal's elder brother is also doctor. Her younger sister is pursuing MBBS.
Payal was followed by Deepti Agrawal who bagged a gold and two silver medals. She also won a book prize and three certificates of honour. Aparna Upadhaya stood at the third position with a gold medal and a book prize and four certificates of honours.

The other girl awardees are: Zeba Jafri, Sangita Lepeha, Ambalika Singh, Radha Katiyar, Tulika Saran, Pallavi Agrawal, Deepti Jaiswal, Himani Gupta, Vandita Vats, Esha Jain, Stuti, Deeksha Arya, Vidhi Goel, Sarika Grover, Mini Chakraborty, Mansi Bansal, Priyanka Sabsal, Prerna Raje, Hina Rahman, Preeti Tomar, Niveta Mall, Jasprit Kaur, Aparna Singh, Nishi Nigam, Shahnaz Begum, Alka Chowdhary, Deepti Shastri, Varuni Arora, Deepa Goel, Shalini Tewari, Tulika Jauhari, Rati Gupta and Rashmi Singh.
The boy award winners are: Akhilesh Kumar Singh, Nitesh Tewari, Lokesh Bahal, Mahendra Tripathi, Madan Mishra, BN Gupta, Sumit Kumar, Sangesh Gupta, Amarjeet Singh, Prabhat Bharadwaj and Akhilesh Yadav.
