LUCKNOW: The latest edition of the Hurun India Rich List, which counts persons with a wealth of Rs 1,000 crore or more, has listed 25 persons from Uttar Pradesh, up by three since last year. The richest person in the state is Murli Dhar Gyanchandani, owner of the RSPL Group which manufactures Ghadi detergent powder. With a net worth of Rs 12,000 crore, he is number 149 on the all-India list.
The list includes eight from Noida, six from Agra, five each from Kanpur and Lucknow and one from Prayagraj. Murli Dhar's younger brother Bimal is the third from UP on list, at number 220 with a net worth of Rs 8,000 crore. For both brothers, the current ranking is a significant jump over the previous report, the elder brother moving up 28 places and the younger one moving up by 31 places. They both belong to Kanpur.The five new entrants in the list from the state include Alakh Pandey (30), founder and CEO of ed-tech platform PhysicsWallah.
With a net worth of Rs 4,000 crore, he is 399 in the all-India list and is the only person from Prayagraj. From Kanpur, Irshad Mirza of Mirza International, one of the largest leather exporters in India, has made an entry on position 629 with a net worth of Rs 2,200 crore. Yashish Dahiya, chairperson and CEO of PB Fintech, is the third new entry, appearing at position 987 with a worth of Rs 1,100 crore. Mohammed Ashiq Qureshi of HMA Agro Industries in Agra, the largest buffalo meat exporters in India, shares the position with Dahiya with the same net worth. The final new entry is Sushila Devi Singhania of JK Cements, at the 1,036th position.
Farid Ahsan, co-founder and COO of Sharechat, saw the steepest climb in this list, moving up from position 809 in 2021 to 655 this year. Raghav Chandra, co-founder of Urban Company, is the only other person besides Ahsan and the Gyanchandani brothers who saw an improvement in position, climbing 98 spots to 711.
Among the 25 persons in the list, 16 have seen their positions drop. The sharpest drop was seen for Brijesh Agarwal of IndiaMart, whose ranking dropped from 296 in 2021 to 531. Yogesh Kumar Jain, Chakresh Kumar Jain, Naveen Kumar Jain and Pradeep Kumar Jain of PNC Infratech were ranked 987 , a drop of 178 positions.
