allahabad: dr nks gaur, minister for medical education speaking as the chief guest in `shravani-utsav' on sunday stressed the need of organising such type of programmes to keep alive indian culture and traditions. he lamented that the new generation was attracted to western culture as they did not know about the depth of our own. gaur appreciated the efforts of ai mahamana malviya memorial society for making efforts to revive our culture and traditions.
the programme started with devi geet by ragini chandra, a teenager, followed by a dhun of kajri `hare rama rim jhim barse' on organ by vijay chandra, and on sitar by agni verma accompanied on tabla by pradeepyo lahiri which was appreciated by audience. famous kajri singer ajeeta srivastava and a party of seven gave recital of kajri `gheri gheri aae savan ki badaria na', `jhoola, jhoola dhire se jhoolavo banwari, aarey savaria' and `barahmasiya' and thrilled the audience by her melodious songs. shehnai accompaniment added charm to the programme.
