Gang of conmen busted, 4 arrested

The cyber cell of Lucknow police arrested four persons from Gomtinagar on Monday for duping people from Chhattisgarh, Bihar, West Bengal and Uttarakhand by luring them with the offer to set up banking kiosks.

LUCKNOW: The cyber cell of Lucknow police arrested four persons from Gomtinagar on Monday for duping people from Chhattisgarh, Bihar, West Bengal and Uttarakhand by luring them with the offer to set up banking kiosks. The miscreants were running a call centre in Vivek Khand, Gomtinagar.
The cyber cell used surveillance to track and arrest the four accused identified as Devdutt Shukla of Pratapgarh, Sushil Mishra of Allahabad, Manish Chauhan of New Delhi and Gaurav Raj of Bihar.

Cops seized an SUV, two laptops, two dozen mobile phones and fake seals of government departments from them. The accused used to work together at a company in New Delhi earlier, said police.
The gang was busted after a man from Chhattisgarh filed a complaint with the cyber cell on October 27. Nodal officer of cyber cell Abhay Mishra said that the gang lured victims by offering them to set up banking kiosks.
ASP (east) Sarvesh Mishra said that similar complaints were lodged by some businessmen from in Gomtinagar and Mahanagar in Lucknow.
The victims were asked to deposit Rs 1200 for registration then Rs 6500 for the deal and then the accused switched off their mobiles. The accused had defrauded over 250 persons in this way.
The ASP said that efforts are on to nab others associated with the gang.
