LUCKNOW: Four members of an interstate gang who had carried out a daring heist of 1kg gold in Gujarat were arrested in a joint operation by Kanpur Dehat police and Surat police on Wednesday night. The arrests were made in Musanagar area of Kanpur Dehat where the gang was planning to sell the gold.
Those arrested were identified as Vimal alias Bhole Singh, Bunty Singh, Binu Nishad, and Sajjan. Police recovered Rs 22 lakh cash and jewellery from them. SP Kanpur Dehat, BBGTS Murthy, said Vimal and Bunty worked in Surat together and were mastermind behind heist which was executed at the bungalow of jeweller Kartik Banawala in Surat district on the intervening night of June 29-30.
"Two members of the gang are still on the run while Binu Nishad along with his aide Sajjan had told the masterminds that they can fetch a better money for the stolen gold from their known jewellers in Kanpur Dehat. The gang had arrived in Kanpur via train and had plans to sell the gold," said Murthy.
