Lucknow: For the second time in the week, delayed decision by the district administration regarding the closure of schools up to Class 12 due to heavy rains added to the chaos, as most of the students had to return home after reaching their schools. Many parents and students scrambled to make hectic arrangements to return home following the rainy day order.
"Early intimation would have helped the working parents. Many working parents drop their child at school and then rush to their offices. But sudden school closure meant taking the children back home and then heading to office. It makes both hectic and frustrating," said a teacher, Anita Jaiswal, whose daughter studies at a private school in Hazratganj.
Another parent, Anubha Gupta, said, "My husband is posted out of the city. The school van drops my children at two different schools. Such a sudden announcement made it difficult as I had to pick my kids from two schools since the van had left after dropping them."
District inspector of schools Rakesh Kumar Pandey said, "The order depends on weather warnings. As soon as alerts are received, school closure orders are issued."
