Lucknow: When UP chief minister
Akhilesh Yadav sets off on his rath yatra on Thursday, his companion would be the catchy but inspiring rhythm of war songs from
Bundelkhand
- the Alha, folk songs sung in praise of warrior kings. A
Samajwadi Party song has been composed on the pattern of the Alha, which will play all along the yatra.
"For now, this will help me unwind,"
Akhilesh
told
TOI
, on the eve of his yatra. "When the yatra gets into longer stretches, I will listen to the song, patterned on the Alha. Modern instruments have been used to create it," said the chief minister, who is known to be fond of Metallica, Bon Jovi and
Bryan Adams.
The song will talk of the development work carried out by Akhilesh as chief minister.
The Alha folk tune was also used in the title track of the film "Omkara" - "Dhum dhum dhadhaiya re" - shot in the backdrop of UP.
After the Samajwadi Party's landslide victory in 2012, the party came up with a song - "mann se hai Mulayam" - on the tune of Billy Joel's "We didn't start the fire" which became a big draw especially in the run up to the
Lok Sabha
elections in 2014.
