19 months after Allaya bldg collapse, flat owner gets Rs 11k electricity bill

Lucknow: A year and nine months after the collapse of Allaya apartment building on Wazir Hasan Road in Hazratganj, the owner of flat 303, Dr Shashank Kumar, has received a electricity bill of Rs 11,997. The flat no longer exists.
Dr Kumar, who expressed his frustration, said, "I'm shocked to have received this bill on Sunday. The flat has collapsed, and the accused have been arrested for negligence. Even after contacting the national helpline, there has been no resolution."
He added, "The electricity department should understand that I've been transferred to another city. No one is currently residing in Lucknow, and now I'm facing this additional problem."
In response, Dharmendra Sinha, the executive engineer at Raj Bhawan, acknowledged the issue and suggested it might be a technical error. He stated, "If the owner contacts us directly, we will resolve the matter."
The building collapse had claimed three lives.
