Lucknow: Sweeping the medal tally by bagging 13 gold and two silver medals, Dr Mahvish Ahmad, a 2017 MBBS student of King George’s Medical University (KGMU), will join the elite club of medicos who have bagged all three top medals of the medical university, during the 18th convocation scheduled on December 23.
She is the fifth student to achieve this by winning prestigious Chancellor’s, Hewett and University Honour medals since KGMC was elevated to university status in 2001.

She will be given Chancellor’s Medal for obtaining the highest aggregate marks among all MBBS professionals, Hewett Medal for highest marks in MBBS part-ll and the University Medal for maximum number of honours and certificates in all MBBS professional examinations.
She will be among 41 students who will be honoured during the convocation ceremony. Mahvish, who aspires to pursue studies in the field of diagnostics and research, said: “There is no alternative to consistency and understanding concepts rather than mugging. I applied this simple mantra during my studies which yielded results.”
Hailing from Moradabad, Mahvish has two doctors in her family – her father is a physician and brother has completed his MBBS from AIIMS Delhi.
MBBS student, Deepak Bansal, who bagged six golds and one silver medals, including Selby Memorial Gold for being the best qualified in surgery, said: “To avoid piling of study load, I follow a strict timetable and set small goals. It helped me score well.” Meerut resident Deepak loves to play chess in his spare time to bust stress and is delighted to become the first doctor in family. “I want to be a good surgeon,” said Deepak, whose father is a businessman.
Aditi Chandra, who will be given Dr RML Mehrota Memorial Gold for scoring highest marks in MBBS, loves singing to keep stress at bay.
