LUCKNOW: Seven persons, including a minor, were trapped in a massive fire that broke out at a house in Tikaitarai LDA Colony in Bazaarkhala police station area early Saturday morning.

However, fire fighters managed to rescue all of them safely from the inferno.

Police said the fire was apparently caused due to a short circuit and the locals were first to spot the flames and raise an alarm.

“The mighty flames scared the locals of the colony who ran for their lives. There was a stampede like situation in the area. The strong flames engulfed the house. The family got trapped as they were fast asleep at the time of incident,” said the police.

Chief fire officer Mangesh Kumar said three fire tenders and a police team reached the spot and contained the fire.

“The fire broke out in the staircase of the three-storey house of one Madhuri Mishra at around 5am. It soon spread to the entire house,” said Kumar adding that several household items were gutted in the flames.

At the time of incident, Madhuri Mishra, her elder son Vivek, daughter-in-law Riddhi and granddaughter, younger son Darshit Mishra, younger daughter-in-law Shivani and her son Abhay were inside.

The firemen with the help of a neighbour SK Gautam and a staircase rescued the family who were unable to breathe properly due to the smoke.
