It all happened at around 10.45 a.m., when the traffic head constable Muzaffar Hussain gestured the traffic coming from the overbridge side to move towards RML. Half of the traffic had moved when message was flashed that Raja Bhaiyya's fleet is about to pass from the said route. Getting the message, the traffic cops asked the rest of the traffic to stop.
A four-wheeler (UP 32-CM-5493) stopped midway. Objecting to it, Muzaffar Hussain asked them to come back. The driver and his co-passenger however, showed reluctance. This resulted in heated exchange of words between Muzaffar and the car driver. On seeing this, constable Tileshwar Prasad also rushed near the car and asked the driver of the car to move from the spot. Even when the discussion was on, a woman co-passenger came out from the car and roughed up Tileshwar Prasad. She even slapped the constable and tore the badge on the uniform.
Police immediately called additional force, which rushed to the spot and pacified the woman and the driver. The driver was identified as Dr Arvind Kumar, who claimed himself to be from KGMC and the woman identified as Manjulata Singh, a staff nurse at RML Hospital.
Even after the police pacified the two, Dr Arvind Kumar tried to pressurise the police by claiming that he is well-known to DIG Ashutosh Pandey. However, later talking to mediapersons, the DIG denied knowing any person with this name. Later the police on the complaint of constable Tileshwar Prasad registered an FIR against Dr Arvind and Manjulata Singh. Police said that the matter is being investigated.
