FIR after two men thrashed over civic poll related rivalry

Lucknow: A group of youths thrashed two men in Madehganj in Khadra area on Monday evening allegedly over civic poll related rivalry, police said.
According to police, one Abid Razzak, who lives near Shia PG College, is an advocate and had supported Samajwadi Party candidate in the recently concluded civic elections.
He had a verbal duel with rival independent candidate Jalaluddin and his supporters.
Razzak alleged that when he was returning home on Monday evening with his friend Chand, Jalaluddin's supporters stopped him and started beating them. However, as the crowd started gathering, they fled away.
Police then sent Razzak and Chand for medical examination.
But, Jalaluddin and his aides again intercepted them and thrashed the duo in front of the police. After a heavy force came to the scene, the attackers fled.
SHO, Madehganj, Sunil Kumar Azaad, said an FIR has been lodged and some persons detained.
