LUCKNOW: After the voting for the nine assembly constituencies of Lucknow concluded, all Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) used in the process were locked along with the fate of candidates in strong rooms in Smriti Upvan of Ashiana.
District officials said that all the EVMs have been sealed and kept in strong rooms in the presence of observers, candidates and representatives of political parties.
These strong rooms will now be opened on March 10 on the counting day. A triple layer of security has been arranged to ensure the safety of EVMs. While the innermost perimeter of protection has been given to armed personnel of Central Industrial Security Forces (
CISF), the outer layer of security has been given to Lucknow police.
The room where the EVMs are stored and sealed are guarded by CISF and they are responsible for protecting and securing the strong room. While the Lucknow police guarding the outer layers will ensure that nobody is able to breach into the Smriti Upvan. A control room has been set up at the Smriti Upvan and the entire campus is under CCTV monitoring.
