EOW arrests former officer of minority finance corp for fraud

Lucknow: The EOW on Tuesday arrested a former field officer of the UP minority financial and development corporation, Khurshid Ahmed, in connection with embezzlement of margin money loans. Ahmed was arrested from his residence in Wazirganj following a detailed probe into fraudulent activities that occurred between 1996 and 2000 in Ghazipur.The case, registered under FIR number 1001/2000 at Kotwali police station, Ghazipur, involves charges under multiple sections of the IPC, including 419 (cheating by personation), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 467 (forgery of valuable security), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), and others. The investigation revealed that Ahmed, along with 12 other accused, orchestrated a scheme to embezzle govt funds by creating fake documents and colluding with officials from the corporation's headquarters and local banks.During his tenure as a field officer at the Jawahar Bhawan, Lucknow, Ahmed allegedly conspired with co-accused individuals to fabricate identities and addresses, thereby fraudulently completing formalities to obtain margin money loans. This resulted in the misappropriation of Rs 6.42 lakh.The probe was on, with efforts underway to apprehend the remaining eight accused individuals who are still at large.
