EOW arrests 4 for Rs1.42cr bank FD fraud
Lucknow: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Uttar Pradesh Police on Wednesday arrested four persons in connection with a Rs 1.42 crore banking fraud involving the premature encashment of fixed deposits at the Bank of India's Maharajpur branch in Kanpur Nagar.The case relates to fraudulent transactions in 25 fixed deposits and 15 savings accounts of customers, through which an amount of Rs 1.42 crore was allegedly siphoned off. Acting in collusion with bank staff and other associates, the accused allegedly broke several FDs before maturity and transferred the money into their personal accounts.

Those arrested were identified as Brijmohan Gupta, Mulayam Singh Yadav, Kiran Devi and Renu Gupta. An FIR was earlier registered at Maharajpur police station against 11 accused, including bank employees. The investigation was later handed over to the EOW's Kanpur sector on the orders of the Uttar Pradesh govt.
