kanpur: kursi, television, tala chabi, almirah, knife, bangles, candle and coconut. these are all common household items. but once elections come, all these non-descript items assume a distinguished importance. presently, several independent candidates in the fray for assembly elections have opted for these items as their election symbols. moreover, some of the candidates have selected their symbols after consulting their astrologers.
