Dust storm, rains bring relief from hot weather
LUCKNOW: Dust storm followed by rains on Monday evening brought temperatures down in the city, bringing relief from severe hot conditions prevailing for past several days. However, humid conditions were back within hours. Tuesday is also expected to be hot and humid.
The minimum temperature recorded at wee hours in Met observatory at Amausi was 28.5 degrees Celsius, two degrees above normal. The temperature rose to maximum 41 degrees Celsius, three degrees above normal, during the day. Relative humidity was also high.
The temperatures were higher within the city. The weather monitoring cell in the Geology department of the Lucknow university recorded maximum and minimum temperatures 43.38 and 33.73 degrees Celsius respectively.
A dust storm with winds measuring between 25-30 km per hours hit the city at around 5pm and lasted for about half an hour. Strong winds followed by a heavy shower brought temperatures down to 29.50 degrees Celsius, a drop of around 10 degrees from 39.43 degrees recorded at 5pm sharp at the LU cell.
