Eyewitnesses said the car was driven at a high speed through narrow residential lanes before the driver lost control.
The vehicle first struck a delivery executive, flinging him off balance, and then rammed into a man carrying grocery items. Within seconds, a woman standing by the roadside was also hit. The car continued its reckless run, damaging several parked vehicles before finally coming to a halt.
"The driver was zig-zagging at a very high speed. It looked like he had no control over the vehicle. People started shouting and running for safety," said a local shopkeeper, Ajay Anand, who witnessed the incident.
Residents and passers-by immediately sprang into action, chasing the car and eventually overpowering the driver.
"We had to run behind the vehicle for some distance before we could stop him. He appeared heavily intoxicated and was barely able to stand properly," said another eyewitness, Vivek Yadav.
Among the injured, Babloo Yadav alleged, "He was driving at nearly 90–100 kmph on a narrow stretch. My vehicle was hit from behind, and within seconds, multiple vehicles were smashed."
Mohd Arif, another victim, said, "I was heading towards Yahiyaganj when the car hit my motorcycle from behind. I had no time to react."
Ayushi, who sustained injuries, said, "I was just standing by the roadside when the car suddenly came towards me and hit me. It was terrifying." The driver was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol, though a medical examination is underway to ascertain the same.
