Principal of GMHS and his police gunner were killed in full public view outside the gates of an intermediate college on Friday.
LUCKNOW: In a neatly executed sensational double murder, principal of Noida's Gandhi Memorial High School (GMHS) and his police gunner were killed in full public view outside the gates of an intermediate college in sector 22, Noida, on Friday. The assailants, two in number, sped away from the site thereafter. Kin of the principal have named members of the school management as accused. The incident took place in the afternoon when the principal Yashwant Singh Tyagi reached the gates of the Government Inter College in sector 24 of Noida in his Maruti car.
He was accompanied by his manager KP Yadav and police gunner constable Imtiyaz Ali. Yashwant was on the rear seat, Yadav was at the wheels with the police gunner sitting beside him. Yashwant had gone there in connection with the admission of his friend PS Bisht's daughter.
Barely had the car stopped at the gates of the government college when two youths arrived on the scene and fired a shot each at the police gunner and Yashwant from a point blank range leaving no time for any of the victims to react. They then fled away unchallenged. The two injured were rushed to the local hospital where they were declared brought dead. According to senior superintendent of police (SSP), Noida, RKS Rathore, the murderers had the touch of professional contract killers. "This was somewhat established by the fact that they shot dead the police gunner only to rule out possibility of any resistance from him," Rathore said while talking to TOI on phone.
In the FIR lodged in connection with the incident, Yadav has named GMHS's former peon Kallu Ram and Dharmendra Kumar as the prime accused. Four others have been named as co-accused. Police see the incident as a fallout of an old enmity which Yashwant had with a section of GMHS management. Allegedly as a result of this enmity, Yashwant was attacked over two years back in which his son Sanjiv was killed. Yashwant had named Dharmendra and Kallu as two of the six accused who were then arrested and sent to jail. Yashwant was provided a police gunner as well. But Sanjiv's death too could not end the dispute between Yaswant and members of the management as a result of which Yashwant lost the post of head principal at GMHS more than a year ago only to be re-instated shortly thereafter. "We have come to know that Kallu and Dharmendra- who were in jail in connection with the murder of Sanjiv- have been released on bail recently. We are working on definite leads and hopeful of a breakthrough in near future," SSP Noida RKS Rathore said.
