Does Menon's escape mean a gang war?
LUCKNOW: The sensational escape of Vijay Menon following the shootout outside the district courts on Saturday could unleash a bloodbath ending in a gang war.
Sources inside the district police jail told TOI that Menon was in touch with some dons outside Lucknow through his mobile phone for over a fortnight now. Undertrials close to Menon confirmed that "either Menon himself was involved in robbery of the two stenguns from police personnel in the state capital in the recent past, or was close to the gang which committed these robberies." The stenguns are lying for exclusive use during the gang war.
These arms and ammunitions are expected to surface during attacks on a politician of Lucknow and a counterpart from an adjoining district.

Menon is being seen as a sharp-shooter entrusted with the responsibility of masterminding and executing these attacks.
This information is believed to have reached the two mafia-turned-politician targets who have taken refuge within the safe confines of their respective dens. Menon is apparently the only person who can gain access to these dens or collect valuable information about the two targets and hence his escape was of immediate importance for those who have given contracts to eliminate these two politicians.
Sources said that any delay in his escape would have led to the postponement of the two contract killings indefinitely. Police were cross-checking some of these details when reports last came in.
