On Monday, Hasanganj police, acting on a tip-off nabbed Dr Ashok Kumar alias Aman, only to recover around five stolen two-wheelers, an engine of another motorcycle and a fuel tank from his possession.
Interestingly, Aman when interrogated by the police revealed his name as Dr Ashok only. However, according to Arvind Kumar Yadav, circle officer, Mahanagar, the accused is a member of an international gang. Notably, the leader of the gang, Chandresh (the leader), along with Danish, Umar, Zakir Ali and Munna Kumar were arrested by Hasanganj police on January 18 earlier. The police had then recovered seven stolen motorcycles from their possession. Meanwhile, Aman has confessed to having stolen several (he stopped keeping a count as the numbers swelled with each passing day) vehicles from the medical college in the garb of a doctor. His partners in crime included Umar and Danish. Aman then used to sell these two-wheelers in Nepal. Aman had been sent to jail in different cases lodged with Aliganj and Thakurganj police earlier, the circle officer said, and added that the vehicle (UP 32-CT 8838) on which he was travelling was also stolen from Alambagh police station area.
