Docs’ cycle rally forhealth awareness

Lucknow: Over 200 students, doctors and officials of the King George's Medical University (KGMU) participated in a bicycle rally on Sunday to promote health awareness among villagers. The rally began at 6 am from the KGMU and concluded at Shaheed Smarak on IIM Road. The initiative focused on educating villagers about de-addiction, anti-dowry measures and women empowerment.Prof RAS Kushwaha, dean, student welfare, flagged off the rally along with faculty members Prof Kshitij Srivastava and Prof Suresh Kumar. Former MP Kaushal Kishore, MLA Jai Devi and MLA Amresh Kumar also took part in the rally. Speakers addressed villagers about dangers of substance abuse and various health issues. Prof Kushwaha emphasised, "Awareness is the first step toward change and through such initiatives we aim to create a healthier society." Prof Rachna Verma provided information about cancer prevention.The rally concluded with an oath-taking ceremony led by Kaushal Kishore where participants pledged to combat addiction and eliminate the dowry system.
